- Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam were arrested on 13 july night upon their return to the country after their conviction in one of the three corruption cases.

- Earlier they flew to the UAE capital from London, where Sharif's wife Kulsoom, suffering from throat cancer, is battling for her life. According to an airport official, they surrendered before a team of the country's anti-graft body The National Accountability Bureau without any resistance. Sharif reportedly refused to sit in the vehicle of the Rangers to get to the airport terminal.
- Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials took their passport for immigration. According to media reports, dozens of security officials entered the plane after it landed and asked other passengers to leave.
- The duo's passports were seized by a three-member FIA team, and both were permitted to meet Begum Shamim Akhtar, Sharif's mother, in the Haj Lounge.
- The two were convicted on July 6 in the Evenfield properties case linked to the Sharif family's ownership of four luxury flats in London. Both Sharif, 68, and Maryam, 44, have been sentenced by an accountability court to 10 and 7 years in prison respectively.
- The Sharif family is now facing two more corruption cases in the accountability court, Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investments, in which they are accused of money laundering, tax evasion and hiding offshore assets.
- Sharif and Maryam were later sent on a special private plane bound for Islamabad International Airport. Upon landing at the Islamabad airport, they will either be flown to Adiala Jail or driven to Attock Jail, Dawn newspaper reported.

- Sprinter Hima Das on 12 july scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships as she clinched to top spot in the women's 400 m final race on the third day of competitions in Tampere, Finland.
- 18-year-old Hima Das, a pre-tournament favourite, clocked 51.46 seconds to win the gold. Das, from Dhing village in Assam's Nagaon district, now She joins the illustrious company of star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won a gold in Poland in the last edition in 2016 in a world record effort. In fact, Das is the first Indian track athlete to have won a medal in the history of this competition.
- President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated Hima Das. In a tweet, he said: Congratulations to our sensational sprint star Hima Das for winning the 400m gold in the World Under-20 Championship. - Running in lane number 4, Das was behind Romania's Andrea Miklos at the final bend but produced a stunning burst during the final stretch to cross the finishing line well ahead of the field. She produced her trademark burst at the final 50m. Miklos took the silver in 52.07 while Taylor Manson of USA was third in 52.28.
- "I am very happy to win the gold in the World Junior championships. I want to thank all the Indians back home and also those, who were here cheering me. It was very encouraging to have this kind of support," she said after the race.

- The Bombay High Court today declined to relax the ban on sale of decoration items made of thermocol for use in the forthcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Maharashtra.
- The Court dismissed a petition filed by the Thermocol Fabricator and Decoration Association, seeking relaxation of the ban only for this year's Ganesh festival to be celebrated in September.
- Manufacture and use of a large number of plastic and thermocol items have been banned in Maharashtra. The petition claimed the association's members would suffer huge financial losses if decoration material made of thermocol is not permitted to be sold in the market.
- The association also submitted an undertaking stating they will themselves dispose of the material. The court refused to accept the association's undertaking that it would take back the sold thermocol material and dispose them of after the festival.
